Our Doctors
Dr. Mark Hardesty (Co-Owner)
is a 1988 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine and received the Award for Excellence in Food Animal Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Hardesty also holds a Master’s degree in Dairy Nutrition and Management from Ohio State. He practices exclusively with dairy cattle and calves. Dr. Hardesty works in all aspects of production medicine, with special interests in Dairy Management, Cow Comfort, Building Design, Nutrition consulting, Milk Quality, milker training, heifer raising and vaccination programs. Dr. Hardesty writes a monthly column in the Hoard’s Dairyman magazine. Dr. Hardesty is an active member of the American Association of Bovine Practitioner’s, Ohio Dairy Vets, Tri-State Nutrition, Ohio Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, and received the Merial Preventive Medicine Award for Dairy in 2000. Dr. Hardesty served on Ohio’s Dairy Care Standards Committee and is involved in supporting local Ag Education. In 2014, Dr. Hardesty was named AABP Practitioner of the Year.
Dr. Michelle “Mitch” Michalak (Co – Owner)
is a 1985 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She also completed the Executive Program in Swine Health Management at the University of Illinois in 1998. Dr. Michalak’s primary focus, when not in the office seeing small animals, is in swine production and preventative medicine. Her special interests in swine production involve welfare education and PQA Plus certification. Dr. Mitch sees small animals in all of our offices. Dr. Michalak and her husband, Dr. Hardesty, have two daughters. Dr. Mitch is also involved with the Girl Scouts, teaches religious education, and sings in the choir at her church.
Dr. Brandy Liles (Co- Owner Wapakoneta Office)
is a 1999 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Liles joined our practice in 2002. Dr. Liles’ veterinary focus is small animal preventative care, surgery, dentistry, and quality of life care. She is a member of the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Liles enjoys spending her time outside of the office watching her children participate in sports, reading, walking, and biking.
Dr. Laura Nusbaum
Dr. Laura Nusbaum is a 1999 graduate of the University of Findlay and 2004 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Since joining our clinic in 2004, Dr. Laura devotes her time to both small and large animal care. Her special interests include small animal surgery, livestock and pet disease management, and calf care. She is a member of the OVMA, AVMA, and AABP. She also enjoys spending time with her family camping.
Dr. Andy Lefeld
is a 2015 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Lefeld is originally from St. Henry. Dr. Andy's clinical interests include dairy management, cattle reproduction, milking system analysis, and mastitis troubleshooting. While not at work, he enjoys being outdoors with family and friends. He is a member of OVMA, AVMA, AABP, and NMC.
Dr. Emily Stayduhar
is a 2016 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Stayduhar is originally from western Pennsylvania, but she has become a proud Buckeye. In her spare time Dr. Emily enjoys spending time with her dogs, running, and cheering on the Buckeyes with her family and friends. She has a passion for both large and small animals and her special interest include surgery, dairy management, and calf care. She is a member of OVMA, AVMA, and AABP.
Dr. Megan Canel
is a 2023 graduate of The University of California, Davis College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Canel was born and raised in California but has now moved to Ohio to join our practice. She enjoys spending time with her dog, traveling and visiting family. Dr. Canel's special interest include surgery and beef medicine. She is a member of OVMA, AVMA, and AABP.
